Berries of happiness, red diamonds or wolf berries – all those names describe one of the most powerful plants of today – goji.
They are part of ancient Tibetan traditional medicine and nutrition. A legend says that at around 800 AC, in the times of Tang dynasty, a tree full of goji berries existed above a hidden well near a Buddhist temple. For years the berries would end up falling into the water, and monks who drank it were known for their vitality, good health and longevity. We can’t be sure whether this legend is true or not, but it’s a fact that a life span of over 100 years is quite common in those areas of Asia. High concentration of antioxidants, amino acids and essential fatty acids in goji certainly has something to do with it. High quantities of vitamin C, iron and various other nutrients are an additional value of the goji berries.
